<p></p><h3 id="jason-dreyzehner-proposes-new-bigint-chip-to-upgrade-bitcoincash">JASON DREYZEHNER PROPOSES NEW BIGINT CHIP TO UPGRADE BITCOINCASH</h3><p></p><img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/srd-optimized-uploads/72a85d8ffa4f47dfbcf401e5ddf9ea7f.jpg" /><p></p><p>The Bitcoin Cash community has a new consensus proposal to consider, <a href="https://github.com/bitjson/bch-bigint" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">CHIP 2024–07</a> BigInt, which aims to increase the maximum length of Virtual Machine (VM) numbers from 8 bytes to 258 bytes. This change, proposed by <a href="https://blog.bitjson.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Jason Dreyzehner</a> and titled “High-Precision Arithmetic for Bitcoin Cash,” is aimed at enhancing the precision and efficiency of arithmetic operations within the Bitcoin Cash network. The proposed increase follows the 2022 extension from 4 to 8 bytes and aligns with an earlier limit set by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2010. This proposal is designed to support higher-precision arithmetic without significantly increasing the processing or memory requirements of the VM, thereby improving contract security and reducing transaction sizes.
