<p>We are pleased to announce a new collaboration today. From now on we are working together with the Department of Multimedia and Internet Applications of the <strong>Fernuniversität Hagen</strong> in the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science (<a href="https://www.fernuni-hagen.de/multimedia-internetanwendungen/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">https://www.fernuni-hagen.de/multimedia-internetanwendungen/</a>).</p><p>The FernUniversität in Hagen is Germany’s only state distance-learning university, and its largest in terms of student numbers. Its flexible degree programs and continuing education options make higher education accessible to students in a variety of life situations. Its five faculties conduct a wide range of theoretical and applied research in their subject areas of Humanities and Social Sciences, Psychology, Mathematics and Computer Science, Economics and Business Administration, and Law.</p><p>in the subject area. This will support basic research in the field of human-machine communication and multimedia information retrieval in the field of user interfaces based on Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Extended Reality (XR), Applied Gaming (AG), Human Computer Interaction (HCI) as well as Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). In particular, the support of Multimedia Information Retrieval (MMIR) applications within Metaverse-based user interfaces are important and of great interest for the research of Prof. Dr. Matthias L. Hemmje and Dr. Stefan Wagenpfeil.</p><h2 id="header-0">ABOUT MILC</h2><p>The MILC platform aims to become one of the leading business and entertainment Metaverses. A melting pot, connecting the professional media industry with its fans. Through its own Open Web GL Metaverse and Web3 social community platform, it offers the possibility for all users, for the first time, to interact directly with the media and entertainment industry. In addition, MILC Platform offers a blockchain-based multimedia marketplace for professional content providers to trade licenses for movies, television, streaming, online publishing, music, gaming and art.
