Sony’s blockchain ecosystem, Soneium, partnered with LINE, a leading messaging and digital services provider, to integrate four popular mini-apps into its blockchain network.
This collaboration marks a significant step in making Web3 more accessible, offering LINE’s massive user base a seamless entry into blockchain-powered applications.

Bringing Mini-Apps to the Blockchain

Soneium’s partnership with LINE will introduce four mini-apps to the blockchain ecosystem:

Sleepagotchi LITE – A simplified version of the sleep-to-earn app that previously gained 1 million users on Telegram within a month.

Farm Frens – A blockchain-based farming game developed by Amihan Entertainment, which has received over $10 million in funding.

Moonveil’s Puffy Match – A game powered by zk-L2 and AI, designed to expand Web3 gaming.

Pocket Mob – A social strategy RPG where players earn Respect points, convertible into NFT rewards.

The integration will allow users to enjoy these mini-apps while leveraging blockchain benefits such as on-chain rewards, asset ownership, and digital collectibles.

Why This Partnership Matters

This collaboration is a strategic move for both Soneium and LINE.

For Soneium

By integrating LINE’s mini-apps, Soneium gains direct access to millions of users across Asia. LINE has 200 million active users, making it one of the most dominant platforms in the region. This partnership allows Soneium to bring blockchain technology to a mainstream audience in a frictionless way.

For LINE

By working with Soneium, LINE strengthens its Web3 strategy and positions itself at the forefront of blockchain adoption. With the rising demand for decentralized applications (dApps) and digital asset ownership, LINE can offer users new experiences through blockchain-powered mini-apps.

Making Web3 More User-Friendly

The partnership focuses on ease of use, addressing one of the biggest barriers to Web3 adoption—complexity. Many users find blockchain technology difficult to navigate, but Soneium’s integration with LINE aims to offer a seamless experience by embedding blockchain features within a familiar ecosystem.
Jun Watanabe, Chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs, emphasized this point:

“LINE has built a strong presence, and integrating successful mini-apps into the Soneium ecosystem is the next step toward making Soneium more accessible. We believe this collaboration will drive engagement and adoption in ways that were previously difficult to achieve.”

What This Means for Developers

Developers of LINE MINI Apps will gain access to Soneium’s blockchain infrastructure, benefiting from:

Marketing support to reach wider audiences.

Community-building initiatives to drive user engagement.

IP collaboration opportunities to enhance their apps.

This would reportedly enable more developers to enter the Web3 space, experimenting with blockchain-powered features without needing deep technical expertise.

A Growing Web3 Ecosystem

Soneium, managed by Sony Block Solutions Labs (SBSL) in collaboration with Singapore-based Startale Labs, launched earlier this year as a Layer 2 blockchain on Ethereum using Optimism’s OP Stack technology.
Currently, Soneium ranks as the 15th largest Layer 2 network by Total Value Locked (TVL), according to L2Beat. With this new partnership, its ecosystem is expected to grow significantly, attracting developers, gamers, and social app users.

What’s Next?

The four mini-apps will be gradually integrated into the Soneium ecosystem over the coming months. This rollout will include:

In-game rewards powered by blockchain.

Enhanced social engagement features for LINE users.

NFT-based incentives and tokenized assets.
