 Mysten Labs, the creator of the Sui blockchain, has announced that its upcoming handheld gaming device, the SuiPlay0X1, is slated for release in the first half of 2025.&nbsp;

In a <a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2024/09/03/2940041/0/en/Mysten-Labs-Unveils-Specs-and-Updates-on-SuiPlay0X1-The-First-Blockchain-Based-Handheld-Gaming-Device.html" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">recent press release</a>, the company revealed that preorders for the $599 device began on September 3.
Upon its launch, SuiPlay0X1 will support PC gaming across various platforms, including existing titles from Epic Games and Steam that are compatible with the device. Additionally, it will feature some blockchain-based games like shooter XOCIETY, a shooting game that combines “RPG elements with dynamic PvP and immersive PvE experiences”, and DARKTIMES, “a free-to-play Nordic-inspired medieval Brawler Royale with a physics-based combat system.”

The SuiPlay device is set to launch the first of a new wave of handheld gaming systems, which will be powered by Playtron’s GameOS. According to Playtron CEO and Founder Kirt McMaster, the company had originally targeted a global release of Playtron devices by 2025 and with this new development, they are now closer to fulfilling their goal of unlocking new possibilities for gamers worldwide.
Meanwhile, in line with its push into blockchain gaming, NEXPACE, the blockchain division of South Korean game developer Nexon, has <a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://defi-planet.com/2024/08/south-korean-video-game-developer-nexon-launches-token-through-blockchain-subsidiary/#google_vignette" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">unveiled</a> NXPC, a new cryptocurrency designed to boost user engagement and drive growth in its web3 game, MapleStory Universe. Built on the Avalanche blockchain, MapleStory Universe, a web3 version of the 2003 2D game, will feature NXPC to empower players and community members to contribute to in-game content creation, traditionally managed by developers. NXPC is expected to operate on the Avalanche blockchain, supporting a seamless flow of community-driven growth.
