DOJ Seeks To Stop All Sam Bankman-Fried’s Witnesses From Testifying

The DOJ Said That The Suggested Witnesses And Their Disclosures Were Flawed

According to a court document, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) has requested that none of Sam Bankman-Fried's seven expert witnesses be allowed to testify in his future trial.

The DOJ said that the suggested witnesses and their disclosures were flawed in a number of ways, including the lack of presentation of expert opinions and the use of questionable techniques or factual foundations. The agency further stated that certain points of view were irrelevant and would mislead the jury.

At least two witnesses will be called by the DOJ, Gary Wang and Nishad Singh, who were both Bankman-Fried's former colleagues and have both entered guilty pleas.

Lawrence Akka, Thomas Bishop, Brian Kim, Joseph Pimbley, Bradley Smith, Peter Vinella, and Andrew Di Wu are the seven witnesses Bankman-Fried proposed.

The trial for Bankman-Fried is scheduled to start on October 3. After his crypto business, FTX Group, collapsed last November, he was arrested and is presently being held on several fraud charges.

He faces more than 100 years in prison if found guilty of a number of counts, including fraud for allegedly using billions in client assets to make his and other FTX executives' own unsuccessful investments.
