Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a pro-crypto presidential candidate, stated on October 9 during a rally in Philadelphia that he would withdraw his bid for the Democratic primary nomination and instead run as an independent candidate.

Kennedy is a vocal proponent of cryptocurrency, particularly Bitcoin, and has stated his desire to make America a global cryptocurrency hub. He has also disclosed owning between $100,001 and $250,000 of Bitcoin (BTC). In addition to being pro-crypto, Kennedy was against the Federal Reserve's FedNow payment system, which he equated with a central bank digital currency (CBDC). He cautioned about CBDCs and their potential effect on financial freedom.
Kennedy's decision to run as an independent comes after polling data showed that 19% of the electorate backed him as an independent candidate, making him the strongest independent candidate in US election modern history.
