NASA Will Use Blockchain Technology To Make Proof Of The Next Moon Landing

NASA, in collaboration with computing startup Lonestar and the Isle of Man, plans to send a payload to the Moon in February 2024 containing "data cubes", which stores information that will be secured and verified using blockchain technology back on Earth.

This initiative aims to provide immutable verification of human lunar landings during NASA's upcoming Artemis 3 mission in 2025.

Lonestar and the Isle of Man are working together to create long-term lunar storage systems driven by solar energy that do not require any extra infrastructure.

The test will include creating digital stamps, known as "digital franking," which will be stored in the data cubes. Following the installation of the cubes, the data will be authenticated using blockchain technology upon its return to Earth, ensuring its completeness and integrity.

This technology could potentially provide a means to verify future Moon landings and debunk conspiracy theories surrounding past lunar missions.
