According to local news outlet Tempo, Indonesia's Commodity Futures Trading Supervisory Agency (Bappebti) intends to debut a national cryptocurrency exchange in July 2023.
Indonesia's National Cryptocurrency Exchange is Set to Launch in July
All crypto transactions must use the national exchange, according to Bappebti head Didid Noordiatmoko.
Additionally, he stated that Bappebti intended to keep cryptocurrency sales to local transactions while maintaining them in sync with trends in other markets.
The exchange will provide trading through a built-in, tried-and-true application. Zulkifli Hasan, the minister of trade, was told of the progress by Bappebti, and if there are no further orders, Bappebti will sign the permission, giving authorized traders a month to join the exchange.
The project got off the ground in 2021 when the leaders of an Indonesian telecom company with government backing announced a partnership with Binance to build a joint cryptocurrency exchange.
