Ethereum News
Ethereum's second major upgrade of 2025 went live Wednesday, bringing enhanced data capacity, reduced transaction costs, and improved network usability. The Fusaka upgrade officially
activated on mainnet at 9:49 p.m. UTC at Epoch 411392.
The headline feature, peer data availability sampling, provides significant scaling capabilities to Ethereum and layer-2 networks. PeerDAS represents a more efficient method for processing information across the network.
The Ethereum Foundation
posted a detailed breakdown earlier this week explaining the impacts for users, developers, node operators, layer2 networks, rollups, and enterprises. The foundation stated Fusaka moves Ethereum closer to providing near-instant transactions.
The increased speed will create a more seamless user experience, according to the foundation. Fusaka establishes groundwork for instant-feel user experiences, with based preconfirmations enabling reduced transaction latency from minutes to milliseconds.
For
layer-2 networks and rollups, Fusaka will unlock up to 8x data throughput via PeerDAS. The upgrade fragments entire blobs of rollup data into smaller cells, allowing nodes to download and upload significantly less information.
This architecture enables nodes to process data faster while allowing layer-2 networks to interact with the Ethereum mainnet more efficiently. Rollups will benefit from cheaper blob fees and expanded growth capacity while maintaining network decentralization.
Given the comprehensive enhancements Fusaka provides, market participants are watching how the Ethereum price responds. MerlijnTrader highlighted that Ethereum's previous Pectra upgrade triggered a 58% move, suggesting Fusaka could generate even larger gains.
Bitcoin advocate @LLuciano_BTC
said on Nov. 29 that Fusaka feels like the kind of catalyst sparking real upside. He added that Ethereum finally demonstrates how far scaling can advance while preserving core design principles. Analysts expect the upgrade to support Ethereum's long-term price trajectory.
