Artificial intelligence (AI) is starting to have a significant impact on the labor market, particularly in the United States, the world’s largest economy. A research study conducted by Bizreport titled “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Wages in the US Labor Market” reveals a much faster increase in demand for AI than anticipated, highlighting significantly higher salaries in AI-related occupations. Interestingly, this trend extends beyond the technology sector and affects wage disparities between technology and non-technology roles.

AI Salaries Increased by an Average of 45%

Bizreport’s research shows a notable increase in salaries for AI-related occupations. The study is based on data obtained from eight different job listing platforms, using keywords such as AI, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, and natural language processing.

According to the report, there is an impressive average increase of 45.87% in salaries for computer science professions in the US, and AI is considered a significant driver of this salary growth. This finding, which is a crucial indicator of the increasing demand for professionals in the field of AI, emphasizes the remarkable impact of AI on wages in the labor market.

In comparison to other professions, AI-related occupations offer salaries that are 77.53% higher. This difference becomes even more pronounced, especially at entry-level AI jobs, where salaries are 128% higher than non-AI professions. This significant gap reflects the strong demand for AI and the value of this field.

Increasing Demand for AI Will Continue

Furthermore, the research reveals a significant increase in AI-related job listings between 2011 and 2020. While there were only 12,237 AI-related job listings in 2011, this number rose to 23,368 in 2020. This ten-year comparison directly indicates the growing demand for AI experts.

According to experts at Bizreport, there is a potential for over 131,000 AI-related job openings in the field of computer science by 2024. This impressive projection underscores the continued rapid growth in demand for AI professionals in the labor market, making it a highly important field.
