The name "Catalyst" didn't just pop out of nowhere.

The conference's goal is to bring together the best of the best in tech, art, philosophy and finance to reimagine the future of money. The word "Catalyst" perfectly embodies the idea of a driving force, something that sparks change and innovation.

That’s exactly what CoinMarketCap is going for with this conference: an event that ignites progress in the world of crypto.

Alternatives That Didn't Quite Make the Cut

But were other names on the table?

Very much so.

There was a whole list of potential alternatives, like "Reactory," "Crypton," "Defiance," "Unchained," and many more.

Some of them had a nice ring to them, but they didn't quite capture the essence of the conference's objectives.

And let's be honest, some options like "Defiance" or "Prohibited" had a bit of a negative vibe, which isn't what we're going for in a collaborative crypto conference, right?

Plus, crypto craves decentralization and our last conference, “The Capital,” did not sound very decentralized. Something better was needed. Something like “Catalyst.”

Catalyst is going for groundbreaking discussions and collaborations to be born out of this edition. Who knows, maybe even the next big thing in crypto will be born at it.

And maybe even the name of the next big conference.
