Base Network Has Reached A New High In Daily Transactions

Coinbase's layer-2 network, Base, has surpassed its previous record in terms of daily transactions since its inception in August. According to data from blockchain explorer BaseScan, Base reported 1.88 million transactions on September 14, exceeding its previous high of 1.41 million transactions on August 21. This puts Base ahead of competing chains such as Optimism and Arbitrum, which each recorded 878,000 transactions on the same day.

Despite this achievement, Base still lags behind more established blockchains like Polygon and BNB Smart Chain (BSC). Polygon recorded 2.1 million transactions on the same date, while BSC had 3.1 million transactions.

Interestingly, although Base reached a high number of transactions, it did not have as many daily active users compared to its previous record on August 21. On September 14, Base had approximately 86,000 daily active users, according to data from Dune Analytics.

On its layer-2 network, Base, which officially went live on August 9, allows users to bridge tokens, swap tokens, provide liquidity, and issue non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Base has been positively regarded by the crypto community since its inception. Within two weeks of its inception, over $242 million in crypto assets had been bridged to the network, and it had over 130,000 unique wallets using it on a daily basis. On September 6, over 268,000 unique wallets minted over 700,000 NFTs on Base.
