Dmytro Kotliarov DeXe Core Contributor about How DAOs need to work

DeXe sharing a bold vision for DAOs at the DAOist in Paris

It’s great to see member initiatives bear fruit so soon after being implemented: the proposal to partner with The DAOist on events led to our core contributor, Dmytro Kotliarov, speaking at The DAOist conference on July 16th, in Paris (where ETH CC is happening right now).

Dmytro explained why DeXe is developing the DeXe Protocol, to give others the tools that DeXe itself once found lacking on its own DAO journey. Tools to unlock the full power of DAOs.

Transparency is a crucial tool that is at the foundation of decentralization and that truly raises the level of DAO efficiency to another level. Transparency must be absolute, spanning voting, funds management, interactions with outside protocols, execution of transactions, and whatever else is part of the governance process.
Motivation is lacking in DAOs at this time, as is evident by a lack of activity and engagement with the governance process. And why should they? Governance feels like having a second job with little benefit. Members must be properly and transparently motivated. This is at least partly due to a lack of expertise among those voting or being delegated to. If DAOs use transparently verified experts to make governance decisions, that should greatly increase the motivation of participating in DAOs, especially the motivation to delegate tokens.
Lastly, all the tools need to be on one platform. Having to keep multiple tabs open and learn to use different services for different parts of the DAO governance process makes the learning curve too steep, the time commitment too large, and the motivation to get involved in DAO governance too low for most users.

These tools are in direct response to current challenges not only for DAO but in all organizational structures. And they will go a long way toward solving those challenges.

While in Paris, Dmytro met with a number of people currently building DAOs. They shared similar concerns and want to see stronger, more effective, and especially more sustainable DAOs. With so many people coming together at The DAOist and ETH CC, it’s clear that the DAO community understands and embraces the work it needs to do to get there.

Stay tuned!
