NBA Legend Shaquille O’Neal Served in FTX Class Action

Several unsuccessful attempts later, the NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal was finally served in an FTX class action lawsuit on Sunday.

A Florida judge denied a motion to allow the FTX promoter to be served electronically after the law firm representing victims affected by the exchange’s collapse accused him of dodging service for months.

  • The attorney leading the lawsuit, Adam M. Moskowitz, revealed serving O’Neal at his home on Sunday afternoon.
  • In a statement, Moskowitz also said the entire exchange was captured on video.

“The good news is his home video cameras recorded our service and we have made it very clear, he is not to destroy and/or erase any of these security tapes, because they must be preserved for our lawsuit.”

  • O’Neal is the only one among several celebrities that were roped in by the Sam Bankman-Fried-led platform FTX
  • The class-action lawsuit was filed by an Oklahoma native, Edwin Garrison, an FTX customer, and is being handled by attorneys Adam Moskowitz and David Boies.
  • It named several high-profile celebrities for endorsing FTX, such as Tom Brady, Steph Curry, and Larry David, who are yet to be served.
  • In a series of tweets last week, the Moskowitz Law Firm stated that O’Neal was “running” from them “for 3 months.”
  • The team also claimed to have stood outside TNT studios in Atlanta all week to serve the NBA legend on behalf of FTX investors regarding his previous endorsement of the now-defunct platform.
  • Last week, it was reported that FTX managed to recover a majority of its assets owed to customers and could potentially restart operations next year.
