The Ministry’s decision to implement SMS OTP verification comes in response to concerns raised by applicants on the Minister of Information and Digital Economy’s official X page. This update allows intending participants in the digital skills training programme to complete their registration and account confirmation through an SMS message, providing a more efficient alternative to email verification.
The 3MTT program, initiated by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of creating 2 million digital jobs by 2025. The first phase of the program, in collaboration with NITDA, focuses on twelve technical skills, including Software Development, UI/UX Design, Data Analysis, and more.
NITDA emphasizes that fellows selected for the program will receive training in specific technical skills, empowering them to compete in the local and global technical talent marketplace. Organizations without a physical facility can also apply to become training providers for the program.
Furthermore, the Minister shared that a total of 18,644 companies have applied as service providers in the programme, with an additional 1,407 applications received from partners.
3MTT program gets N1 billion funding from IHS
The program’s implementation will be carried out in three phases, with the first phase targeting 30,000 individuals. The second and third phases aim to accommodate 300,000 and 3 million participants, respectively.
Minister Tijani highlighted that the 3MTT program is a crucial component of the Renewed Hope agenda, designed to build Nigeria’s technical talent backbone for its digital economy and position the country as a net talent exporter.
To apply for the 3MTT programme, applicants must visit the official website with their NIN, email, and phone number. The application process involves filling out a form, providing information on employment status and background skills, selecting a training programme, and submitting the application form. Applicants are then instructed to wait for further information via email.
