According to the latest blog post, Immutable, known for its pioneering work with Web3 gaming, has teamed up with Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab to bring a frictionless Web3 gaming experience to the community. This collaboration is set to unlock new opportunities in the gaming world, making it easier for players to own, trade, and profit from their in-game assets like never before.

Ubisoft Explores Blockchain Gaming Sector

Ubisoft, famed for blockbuster series like Assassin’s Creed and Rainbow Six Siege, is venturing deeper into the blockchain territory by partnering with Immutable, a leader in crypto-based gaming technology. Their collaboration is set to enhance the “Web3 gaming experience,” boosting the idea of players truly owning their digital content. The goal is to bring cryptocurrencies into gaming effortlessly, making digital transactions a smooth part of the gaming market.

Immutable is making waves with its Immutable X layer-2 blockchain, a technology embraced by games such as Gods Unchained and Guild of Guardians for NFT functionality. Central to this new partnership, Immutable brings its blockchain expertise to the table. Nicolas Pouard, the Vice President of Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab and a crucial player in their blockchain projects, is bullish on the partnership. He sees Immutable’s technology as the perfect bedrock for developers looking to embed crypto features into their games, guaranteeing a seamless and delightful player experience.

This collaboration follows impressive showcases of Immutable’s leading games, such as Metalcore, Shardbound, and Infinite Victory. These games span a variety of genres, all unified by key Web3 features, such as permanent ownership of in-game items, offering players new experiences within the gaming space.

Nicolas Pouard said, “As the platform of choice for many leaders within the Web3 community, Immutable offers both cutting-edge technology and unique expertise in seamlessly integrating decentralized technologies into games. We’re excited to partner with them and look forward to bringing that level of fluidness within a full-fledged game, so players only have to focus on the fun of the experience.”

Immutable Brings zk-Rollup Gaming Solution

The partnership between Ubisoft and Immutable could emerge in different ways. It might result in a brand-new game built on blockchain, the integration of Immutable’s tech into an existing Ubisoft game in progress, or a “collect to earn” style game where playing yields tangible rewards. In such a game, players would find entertainment while earning valuable NFTs with the benefits of blockchain rewards.

James Ferguson, Immutable CEO and Co-Founder, said, “Partnering with Ubisoft is a defining landmark for Immutable. We couldn’t be more excited to explore with Ubisoft the benefits of web3 and digital ownership for players. We plan to bring the full weight of our ecosystem to bear to ensure the partnership’s success. We are confident that we will bring to life a fresh new experience that players will love.”Top of Form

Recently, Immutable unveiled a testnet for its Immutable zkEVM, a zero-knowledge rollup (ZK-rollup) solution for gaming. ZK-rollups have gained attention in 2023 as a potent Layer 2 Ethereum scaling solution, boasting the capacity for high-volume, cost-efficient transactions critical for decentralized apps and services.

To date, Immutable has introduced two ZK-powered scaling solutions. Immutable zkEVM, functioning on Ethereum’s Layer 2 via Polygon, and Immutable X, created in partnership with ZK technology innovators StarkWare, are their notable rollouts.

Immutable’s platform provides the essential tools for game developers to develop games on the Ethereum blockchain, promising a new standard in gaming infrastructure.
