Dubai Customs has <a href="https://www.mediaoffice.ae/en/news/2024/july/08-07/dubai-customs-launches-blockchain-platform-for" class="ek-link">introduced </a>a revolutionary blockchain platform designed to enhance the efficiency and transparency of trade operations within Dubai and internationally. 
This digital network is a major advancement in Dubai’s digital transformation strategy, aiming to improve collaboration between government bodies and the logistics sector.

The Government of Dubai Media Office highlights that this initiative reflects Dubai Customs’ dedication to innovation and its goal to strengthen Dubai’s role as a premier global trade center. 
His Excellency Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, explained that this platform is part of Dubai’s broader blockchain strategy for digital transactions, led by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. 
The goal is to leverage the latest technological advancements to offer secure, efficient, and effective services, thereby positioning Dubai as a leader in technological innovation and smart economy initiatives. This platform also aims to bolster Dubai’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and global competitiveness. 
Bin Sulayem stated, “The new blockchain platform represents a significant leap in optimizing business operations in Dubai. This innovation aligns with our vision to establish Dubai as a global hub for trade and logistics. Embracing technologies like blockchain will greatly enhance the business environment and solidify Dubai’s status as a key player in global trade. We are committed to initiatives that streamline business operations and support Dubai’s digital strategy.” 
As for the benefits, the blockchain platform offers several advantages that will significantly improve business operations. Streamlined procedures will speed up customs clearance and commercial transactions, saving time and effort for all parties. The platform, developed by Avanza innovations, ensures secure and tamper-proof data sharing, enhancing trust and visibility across the supply chain and fostering transparent and reliable business relationships. Additionally, reducing paperwork and simplifying processes will lead to substantial cost savings. 
In his turn, Dr. Abdullah Busnad, Director General of Dubai Customs, noted that the blockchain platform is crucial for facilitating trade and strengthening Dubai’s position as a global logistics hub. The platform benefits not only Dubai Customs but also other government entities, making Dubai’s business environment more efficient, streamlined, and transparent. 
“We are committed to realizing the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, by enhancing Dubai’s sustainable business environment through digital initiatives,” said Dr. Busnad. “This initiative is a vital step towards a promising future for trade and government services, ensuring Dubai’s continued journey of innovation and global leadership.” 
It is worth noting that the transparency inherent in blockchain technology will build trust throughout the commercial process, allowing participants to access and verify secure records independently. Additionally, blockchain enables real-time tracking of goods, providing greater supply chain visibility and aiding in efforts to combat fraud and counterfeiting. 
Dubai Customs’ launch of this blockchain platform highlights the emirate’s commitment to leveraging advanced technologies to drive innovation and maintain its position as a leading global trade hub.
