You’re early.<h2 id="header-0">Current Market Situation</h2>Let’s start with a dose of reality:Bitcoin (BTC) is slightly down 1.3% over the last month.BNB is slightly down.ETH is up a tiny bit.Coinmarketcap charts are a sea of red.Not exactly the most encouraging sight, is it?Wasn’t The ETF approval supposed to be the biggest ever with mega-pumps and massive cash inflows into BTC? Weren’t we all supposed to be incredibly wealthy by now? Could it be that all the hype was a lie, and people don’t really care about this crypto trend?But wait, that doesn’t make sense; the Bitcoin ETF has massive trading volume and is actually ahead of silver(!) and just behind gold, making it the <a href="https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2024/01/18/bitcoin-instantly-topped-silver-in-etf-market-and-trails-only-gold-among-commodities/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">second-largest ETF commodity in the USA</a>. But if it has all this activity, why is the price of BTC slightly down this month?Well, most of what you’ve heard is massive hype built around a few grains of truth. Also, while the rising tide of Bitcoin does lift all boats, that tide doesn’t come in all at once. In other words, It wasn’t a magic bullet. It was just one event in a long journey.Let’s get an overview of the current situation and dissect it a bit to help map out probable future events.The Bitcoin ETF started hot, but not everyone was buying in. Lots of traders were just trying to make quick profits by buying and selling small amounts repeatedly. This cancels out the impact of both the buying and selling on the price.Also, many people saw the ETF coming and bought early, expecting a big price jump. When it launched, they sold their coins to make a profit. This means the price already went up in anticipation, and now we’re seeing people cashing out.But for within this sea of red lies a golden opportunity. A bull run is on the horizon, and those who are prepared will be handsomely rewarded.<h2 id="header-1">The Pecking Order of Crypto</h2>We need to consider the pecking order of crypto to understand how BTC price movement affects the larger crypto market and how we can position ourselves for maximum gains:Stage 1: The Accumulation PhaseBitcoin has been slowly but surely trending upwards for the past 14 months. Your mom will ask you to invest in Dogecoin. This FOMO (fear of missing out) frenzy is when things get tricky. This is the time to be careful. Don’t get greedy. Take profits along the way.Stage 4: The Blow-Off TopThis is when the bubble bursts. Prices will crash. People will panic sell. This is the time to get out. Don’t try to catch a falling knife.Stage 5: The Bear MarketThis is the winter of crypto. Prices will be low. Interest will be low. This is the time to be patient. Accumulate Bitcoin and altcoins at low prices. Prepare for the next bull run.So, where are we in this cycle? There are a number of reasons to believe that the bull market is still in its early stages.First, BTC is still down significantly from its all-time high of $69,000. On Nov 10, 2022, BTC traded briefly at a local low of $15,742 before beginning its ascent to a little over $48k on Jan 11, 2024, one day after the ETF approval. That’s an over 3x rise in just 14 months, a remarkable increase. But it’s still down nearly 40% from its all-time high. That’s why most people aren’t feeling confident enough to invest in altcoins yet. This suggests that the market is still in a state of recovery.Second, the market is still relatively volatile. This is evident in the recent price fluctuations of BTC. Volatility is a sign of an immature market, and it suggests that the bull market is not yet fully established.Finally, institutional investors have yet to fully enter the market.
