<p>Node 9.0 was released on July 8 at approximately 7 pm UTC. It’s crucial as the first node supporting the upcoming <a href="https://www.altcoinbuzz.io/?s=hard+fork" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hard fork</a> on the mainnet and testnets like PreProd.</p> 
<h5 class="[&amp;_svg]:h-full [&amp;_svg]:w-full icon-md h-4 w-4"><strong>Node 9.0: Supporting Cardano’s Crucial Hard Fork</strong></h5> 
<p>According to its <a href="https://github.com/IntersectMBO/cardano-node/releases" target="_blank" rel="noopener">release notes</a>, a pivotal upgrade designed to advance Cardano towards fully decentralized governance.</p> 
<p>Hoskinson emphasized in <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvJLrNTCP4Y" target="_blank" rel="noopener">his video</a> that for the hard fork to proceed, 70% of nodes must vote to upgrade to the new software. The Chang hard fork is slated to initiate the “Age of Voltaire” on Cardano’s roadmap. This generates a significant change to the network’s political structure.</p>

<p>Also, key developments outlined in Cardano Improvement Proposal 1694 <a href="https://cips.cardano.org/cip/CIP-1694" target="_blank" rel="noopener">(CIP 1694)</a>. This includes the introduction of Delegate Representatives (DReps). This is elected by Cardano’s tokenholders. These representatives will draft the Cardano Constitution, the network’s foundational governance document. Post-approval, DReps will continue to propose and enact changes aligned with this constitution.</p> 
<p>Finally, Node 9.0 supports the initial phases outlined in CIP-1694 in production environments. However, exchanges and stake pools, according to <a href="https://cardanoscan.io/changreadiness" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cardanoscan block explorer</a>, have yet to prepare for the impending hard fork.</p>
