Litecoin

Litecoin is a decentralized peer-to-peer cryptocurrency and open-source software project released under the MIT/X11 license. Inspired by Bitcoin, Litecoin was among the earliest &#39;altcoins&#39;, launched in October 2011. In technical details, the Litecoin main chain shares a slightly modified Bitcoin codebase. The practical effects of those codebase differences are lower transaction fees, faster transaction confirmations, and faster mining difficulty retargeting. Which makes it perfect for small and more frequent payments. Due to its underlying similarities to Bitcoin, Litecoin have historically been referred to as the &#34;Silver to Bitcoin&#39;s gold.&#34; With substantial industry support, trade volume and liquidity, Litecoin is a proven global medium of commerce and store of value.Litecoin is peer-to-peer enabling instant, near-zero cost payments to anyone in the world. Litecoin is an open source, global payment network that is fully decentralized without any central authorities. Mathematics secures the network and empowers individuals to control their own finances.The Litecoin blockchain is capable of handling higher transaction volume than its counterpart - Bitcoin. Due to more frequent block generation, the network supports more transactions without a need to modify the software in the future. As a result, merchants get faster confirmation times, while still having ability to wait for more confirmations when selling bigger ticket items.The Litecoin network has run for well over 10 years without any downtime! More recently, with the activation of projects such as MWEB, Litecoin has initiated the process of building its own road for the future.MWEB, MimbleWimble Extension Blocks, is the largest upgrade to the Litecoin network ever, promising to provide fungibility for all, while improving Litecoin&#39;s scalability. <a href="https://twitter.com/DavidBurkett38" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">David Burkett</a>, the lead developer behind Litecoin’s Mimblewimble Extension Block (<a href="https://github.com/litecoin-project/lips/blob/master/lip-0003.mediawiki" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">MWEB</a>) upgrade, spent more than two years working on it.The MWEB upgrade was included as part of the Litecoin Core 0.21.2 release, which also included Taproot.On another note, just last year, the token-creation platform, <a href="https://omnilite.org/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">OmniLite</a>, was also launched on Litecoin. OmniLite development was spearheaded by Litecoin developer <a href="https://twitter.com/loshan1212?s&#61;21&amp;t&#61;SdnOVewLXLo7av5iSIOVXg" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Loshan</a> and is based on Bitcoin’s OmniLayer. OmniLayer permits the building of assets, such as the most popular stablecoin, Tether, on top of Bitcoin’s blockchain. It also provides the ability for one to build platforms such as decentralized exchanges and NFT marketplaces. Unfortunately, due to Bitcoin’s high fees, a few developments on OmniLayer were pushed to lower-fee (and more unproven, riskier) protocols. Now, with OmniLite being live on Litecoin, one can gain the benefit of creating assets on top of a low fee network AND one with over 10 years of reliability, having never experienced a network outage.More leading innovations are in the works. As MWEB expands on to various wallets and OmniLite already has several new NFT marketplaces.
