<p>The Games team, which is part of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, has announced a closed beta test schedule for Shiba Eternity, a card game, on Shibarium, the layer-2 scaling solution. It is predicted that the closed beta will commence in the third quarter of 2024.</p> 
<p>This phase will test the game’s features integrated with Shibarium before opening up beta testing for the public. This update, shared in an interview with The Shib Daily, marks a step for the ecosystem as it ventures further into the Web3 gaming space.</p>

<p><strong>Growth in GameFi Sector Despite Challenges</strong></p> 
<p>The GameFi sector within the DeFi space is still expanding despite facing persistent challenges. A recent <a href="https://www.coingecko.com/research/publications/how-many-gamefi-dead" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">CoinGecko report</a> stated that 2,127 out of 2,817 Web3 games have not succeeded since 2018, showing a failure rate of 75.5%.</p> 
<p>Despite this, the GameFi market cap surged above $30 billion as of March 2024. Experts attribute the high failure rate to a focus on financial aspects over player engagement. Shiba Eternity, which has garnered considerable interest since its October 2022 launch, aims to improve player engagement metrics.</p> 
<p><strong>Shiba Eternity’s Continuous Development</strong></p> 
<p>Shiba Eternity, released in October 2022, swiftly became well-liked for its tactical gameplay.The recent update, dubbed Balancing Act, introduced version 1.2.8, which balanced the powers of Boshi.&nbsp;</p> 
<p>In April, the Games team released the project’s initial internal build, anticipating the Shibarium integration. This integration will bring innovative features, including true ownership of in-game assets, a player-driven economy, and community governance features.</p> 
<p>Shytoshi Kusama, the Shiba Inu ecosystem lead developer, hinted at Shiba Eternity’s adaptation for Shibarium, emphasising the introduction of decentralised elements and the game’s independence within the ecosystem.&nbsp;</p> 
<p>Moreover, revenue from in-app purchases will support burning SHIB and LEASH tokens, aligning with the broader economic strategy of the Shiba Inu project.</p>
