<p>On February 15, an <a href="https://x.com/BitcoinMagazine/status/1758152940454330708?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">unconfirmed report</a> circulated in the crypto community, suggesting that outspoken crypto critic and US Senator <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/pro-xrp-lawyer-threat-crypto/" target="_blank" rel="noopener ">Elizabeth Warren</a> had honored <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/satoshi-nakamoto-the-founder-of-bitcoin/" target="_blank" rel="noopener ">Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto</a> with a ceremonial US flag. However, that wasn’t the case, as more context has been provided regarding what happened.&nbsp;</p> 
<h2 id="warren-didn-t-exactly-honor-nakamoto">Warren Didn’t Exactly Honor Nakamoto</h2> 
<p>As <a href="https://x.com/spreekaway/status/1758174043855880629?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">highlighted</a> by an X (formerly Twitter) user, someone (mostly likely a troll) reached out to Warren’s office to purchase a flag that would be flown in honor of Satoshi. Like every other Senator, Senator Warren has a <a href="https://www.warren.senate.gov/services/flags" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">dedicated website page</a> where anyone can go to and place a flag order.&nbsp;</p> 
<p>Former US Representative Jim Cooper had <a href="https://www.tennessean.com/story/life/2019/07/02/american-flag-order-flag-flown-over-capitol-white-house-tennessee/1285680001/" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">previously revealed</a> that anyone could purchase a flag that had flown over the US Capitol. Furthermore, they could even request that they wanted the flag be flown over the Capitol on a certain date to honor a <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/bitcoin-whitepaper-15th-sec-calls-compliance/" target="_blank" rel="noopener ">person like Nakamoto</a>. All such a person had to do was contact their US Congressman or Senator.&nbsp;</p> 
<p>Meanwhile, anyone who buys the flag also receives a certificate confirming that the flag was indeed flown over the Capitol. That explains why a certificate included Warren’s signature, contributing to the belief that she had endorsed the Bitcoin founder.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 id="nothing-has-changed">Nothing Has Changed</h2> 
<p>With this revelation, Senator Elizabeth Warren remains one of the most outspoken critics of cryptocurrencies rather than a Bitcoin convert like <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/blackrock-ceo-claims-bitcoin-is-a-flight-to-quality-why-is-this-important-for-ethereum-binance-and-newcomer-doge-uprising/" target="_blank" rel="noopener ">BlackRock’s CEO Larry Fink</a>. Pro-XRP legal expert <a href="https://www.newsbtc.com/ripple-2/xrp-ripple-sec-settlement/" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">John Deaton</a> had <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/pro-xrp-lawyer-threat-crypto/" target="_blank" rel="noopener ">once described</a> the Senator as the “biggest threat” to crypto in the United States.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> 
<p>Senator Warren had notably introduced the ‘Digital Asset Anti-Money Laundering Act.’ Although she argued that the law would mitigate certain illicit finance risks that crypto poses, many in the crypto community <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/doge-founder-calls-out-senator-warren-for-anti-crypto-stance-elon-musk-agrees/" target="_blank" rel="noopener ">were vocal against</a> the proposed legislation. Coin Center went as far as <a href="https://www.coincenter.org/the-digital-asset-anti-money-laundering-act-is-an-opportunistic-unconstitutional-assault-on-cryptocurrency-self-custody-developers-and-node-operators/" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">labeling</a> the act an “unconstitutional assault” on digital assets and stakeholders in the industry.&nbsp;</p> 
<p>Interestingly, the crypto community isn’t just sitting back; they have decided to take action against the Senator. Specifically, members of the XRP community had urged Deaton, a long-term critic of Warren, to run against the Senator. Ripple’s CEO Brad Garlinghouse supported&nbsp;the push to get the lawyer to run for Senate.&nbsp;</p> 
<p>Bitcoinist <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/pro-xrp-lawyer-deaton-serious-vs-senator-warren/" target="_blank" rel="noopener ">recently reported</a> that Deaton might answer the call as he seriously considers contesting for Warren’s seat. Senator Elizabeth Warren represents Massachusetts in the US Senate and has served since 2013.&nbsp;</p>
