CoinsPaid said that sales went up 32% in the fourth quarter of 2022 compared to the same time last year.Experts in the field of cryptocurrency payments have also noticed high volumes.<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/3041a480910a47b992b4779578952056.png" /><h3 id="satoshi-nakamoto-39-s-dream">Satoshi Nakamoto&#39;s Dream</h3>Pseudonymous inventor Nakamoto said, &#34;What is needed is an electronic payment system based on cryptographic proof instead of trust, allowing any two willing parties to transact directly with each other without the need for a trusted third party.&#34;So why hasn&#39;t crypto lived up to Nakamoto&#39;s dream, as outlined in his famous whitepaper &#34;<a href="https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System</a>&#34; from 2008?Cryptocurrencies have been plagued by factors such as extreme price volatility, poor processing rates, and constant regulatory uncertainty.Only a small percentage of retailers already accept cryptocurrency payments.Yet, Bitcoin advocates argue that the cryptocurrency is superior to fiat because of its cheaper transaction fees and faster transaction times, especially for international payments.Stablecoins, which are tied to the value of traditional currencies, have emerged as a popular alternative to bitcoin for use in international transactions such as remittances and cross-border payments, as well as in emerging economies where local currencies have been impacted by inflation.In February 2022, there were 103.4 million Stellar transactions, up from 50.6 million in January 2022. Stellar is a blockchain that facilitates cross-border payments.<h3 id="can-bitcoin-fulfil-its-potential">Can Bitcoin Fulfil its Potential?</h3>There are a few bumps in the road to crypto&#39;s mainstream use as a payment method.
