Monad is a new approach to blockchain scaling.
The goal is simple: make the decentralized future a reality.
By optimizing every layer of the stack, Monad achieves 10,000 transactions per second of throughput, with 1 second block times and single slot finality. All while maintaining full EVM bytecode equivalence.
This is achieved without compromising on decentralization. Hardware for a node costs $1000. The validator set will start at hundreds of nodes and eventually include thousands of nodes, fully geographically distributed.
This is made possible by the past 3 years of novel engineering work. Four key innovations enable this performance: parallel execution, asynchronous execution, a custom state database, and a new consensus mechanism.
All of these are developed from scratch and optimized for performance. There are no shortcuts.
As a result of this work, Monad significantly increases performance while still leveraging nearly 10 years of R&D done on the EVM. The vast majority of users and developers are familiar with the EVM. Users and developers can still utilize the apps and infrastructure they know and love.
Monad’s performance makes transactions far faster and cheaper. This opens a completely new design space, and allows decentralized apps to scale to levels of mass adoption.
