The Capital 2022 is going to take place virtually on May 26 and 27, and will delve into Web3's most successful use cases for blockchain adoption.
CoinMarketCap is holding its first-ever conference in the metaverse — with Binance's founder CZ and MicroStrategy's CEO Michael Saylor among the crypto heavyweights in attendance.
The Capital 2022 is going to take place virtually on May 26 and 27, and will delve into Web3's most successful use cases for blockchain adoption — examining what's worked so far, and what comes next.
Decentralized finance, the metaverse, play-to-earn games and non-fungible tokens will all be on the agenda for the two-day immersive experience, which is set to be beamed to an audience of 5,000 people worldwide. Changpeng Zhao said:
"The theme of The Capital is Time to Ship — one of the main reasons that I’m excited to speak at CoinMarketCap’s first ever online conference. This unique metaverse-based event will focus on crypto products that are delivering real solutions right now, not at some nebulous time in the future, which is incredibly important to highlight in our support of the cryptocurrency revolution."
'Inspiring the Next Generation'
Samson Mow — who recently left his role at Blockstream to focus on nation-state Bitcoin adoption — will also be speaking at the conference. He's recently become CEO of his very own company, Jan3.
The conference will also give a stage to Web3 startups, who can show how their products have gained momentum — and provide their top tips for accelerating blockchain adoption. Major brands including The Sandbox, Axie Infinity and Polygon are going to be in attendance.
Keynote speeches, fireside chats and virtual hands-on workshops will be on offer for participants — and CoinMarketCap's CEO Rush said:
"The Capital will showcase solutions that demonstrate crypto’s impact on global economic, social and political systems, while inspiring the next generation of crypto users and builders. Our hope is that participants will not only gain valuable insights about the crypto revolution from thought leaders and builders, but that they will also see CoinMarketCap in a new light with the new and immersive experiences during and following the conference."
The Capital conference was last held in 2019 — before the pandemic — with more than 80 speakers on stage and over 1,000 people in attendance.
It's hoped the event will "inform, inspire and mobilize the wider crypto community" as the quest to accelerate blockchain adoption continues.
Of course, we'll have live coverage of the event right here on CoinMarketCap Alexandria — with breaking news stories and daily episodes of the CoinMarketRecap podcast as The Capital 2022 unfolds.
