Ryan Salame, the former co-CEO of FTX Digital Markets, is reportedly in talks with federal prosecutors about entering a guilty plea to criminal charges.
Salame Might Plead Guilty as Early as September
Salame, who was also in charge of FTX's political contributions, might plead guilty as early as September to charges related to breaking campaign funding laws.
It is not yet known if he will assist the prosecution and give a witness statement against Sam Bankman-Fried, the co-founder and CEO of FTX.
In the FTX case, several senior FTX officials like Gary Wang, Caroline Ellison, and Nishad Singh have already entered guilty pleas and will be used as evidence against Bankman-Fried by the government.
Federal prosecutors began looking into Salame last month over potential violations of the campaign finance laws in connection with the congressional campaign of his girlfriend from the previous year.
Prosecutors in the Bankman-Fried case stated in a letter on Tuesday that they still intend to claim that Bankman-Fried engaged in "illegal campaign finance" when he goes on trial in October.
