Leading Decentralized Exchange Uniswap Introduces 0.15% Swap Fees on Certain Tokens
Uniswap's founder, Hayden Adams, announced that the decentralized exchange will impose a 0.15% swap charge on specified currencies via their web app and wallet interfaces, marking their first-ever fee implementation. Tokens like as ETH, USDC, WETH, USDT, DAI, WBTC, agEUR, GUSD, LUSD, EUROC, and XSGD will be subject to the fee when traded through Uniswap Labs' interfaces on the mainnet and supported layer 2s, except stablecoin-to-stablecoin swaps.
According to Uniswap Labs, the fee will fund additional research, development, and expansion in the crypto and DeFi area. While others regard this as a vital step towards long-term viability, there has been considerable criticism on Crypto Twitter. Critics claim that Uniswap's fee structure generates an incentive imbalance between UNI token holders and equity holders.
