The collaboration, announced on March 19, includes an undisclosed investment from Square Enix, aimed at expanding and scaling the HyperPlay game store.
As part of the partnership, Square Enix will launch "SYMBIOGENESIS," an art experience based on MetaMask, a popular cryptocurrency wallet, on the HyperPlay storefront.
Hideaki Uehara, General Manager of Investments at Square Enix, expressed excitement about the investment and partnership, emphasizing the potential of HyperPlay's product to revolutionize game distribution and benefit developers. Square Enix has been actively reorganizing its organizational structure to support blockchain, Web3, and artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives.
JacobC.eth, the Founder of HyperPlay, believes that the legacy distribution platforms in the gaming industry hinder developers from fully harnessing the capabilities of web3. He emphasized the importance of new business models that align the interests of players and developers to ensure a sustainable pipeline of quality games.
HyperPlay has ambitious plans for expansion, including aggregating more game stores, extending its platform to additional platforms, and enhancing the user experience in web3 gaming. They also revealed upcoming initiatives for Q2 2024, such as integrating with Amazon to bring Prime users into the HyperPlay ecosystem. This integration will enable Prime members to access and launch Amazon Prime Gaming titles through the HyperPlay platform while enjoying exclusive benefits and perks from the HyperPlay Store.
