Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder and former CEO of FTX, has been sought to be detained by federal prosecutors, who claim that his most recent acts "crossed the line."

The request resulted from Bankman-Fried's conversations with a New York Times writer that included fragments of Caroline Ellison's private writings as the former CEO of FTX's subsidiary business Alameda Research.

By leaking papers to the New York Times, according to the prosecution, Bankman-Fried attempted to taint a witness' testimony.

Ellison, along with other members of Bankman-Fried's inner circle, is scheduled to testify against him after entering a guilty plea to offenses related to the collapse of the exchange last year.

Bankman-Fried was arrested in the Bahamas and was extradited to the US, where he is currently being held under house arrest at his parents' house in Palo Alto, California. In October, he will stand trial for a crime.
