The proposed iShares spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) by BlackRock has been listed on the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), indicating potential approval by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). According to Bloomberg ETF expert Eric Balchunas, the DTCC listing is an important step in the process of bringing a crypto ETF to market.

The iShares ETF, with the ticker code IBTC, is being considered for a Nasdaq listing. Balchunas speculates that BlackRock may have secured approval from the SEC or is prepared to do so. If approved, this might open the door for other spot crypto ETF submissions that are presently being reviewed by the SEC. The SEC has until January 10, 2024, to rule on BlackRock's application.
