The WEMIX platform is currently providing various platforms that utilize decentralized blockchain technology and users can utilize the service by connecting their own wallets.
As WEMIX Wallet possesses the authority to manage, transfer and sign various digital assets including WEMIX and WEMIX$, the user himself is responsible for protecting personal data.
We have recently received suspected hacking tickets through our support center regarding personal assets that were involuntarily requested to be withdrawn to an unknown wallet. The purpose of this announcement is to remind you of the latest incident so that you can prevent future damages from similar issues.
• Request for the withdrawal of personal wallet assets and unstaking of assets staked in wonder staking by an unknown third party.
• Attempt to steal critical data by impersonating as the WEMIX team via email.
• If by any chance, suspected issues occur, please create a new wallet and transfer the NFT (ERC-721) issued through the unstaking request.
• The WEMIX team never contacts community users personally or ask for personal information on any occasion.
For inquiries regarding the issue please submit a request through the WEMIX.Fi support center.
• Secure personal wallet’s critical data
> Never share critical wallet data (recovery phrase, password, private key, seed phrase, etc.) with others.
> Critical wallet data (recovery phrase, password, private key, seed phrase, etc.) must be safely kept offline where you can only access.
> Do not access or manage your private wallet through public PC or mobile devices.
> Never share your critical wallet data (recovery phrase, password, private key, seed phrase, etc.) under any circumstances.
• Managing personal information saved online (i.e. email, cloud storage, etc.)
> Delete all documents or images from your email account or cloud storage that may contain personal information and save them offline.
> Suspend any email accounts or cloud storage in which personal information leakage is suspected and create a new account.
• Beware of email spams on PC and mobile settings, and make sure not to install unauthorized and unknown apps or use programs that may be infected with viruses.
• Do not share any blockchain related data online such as digital assets and wallet information that can specify your personal identification.
• If you suspect your wallet data leakage, please follow the steps below and transfer your assets to a new wallet.
1. Check the existing wallet information and disconnect the wallet
1-1. Save the recovery phrase of the existing wallet and keep it in a safe place.
* Settings > Security settings > Check recovery phrase
1-2. Click [Disconnect wallet] within the app security settings.
2-1.Click [Create a new wallet] to create a new wallet at WEMIX Wallet.
2-2. Save the recovery phrase of the newly created wallet and keep it in a safe place.
2-3. Copy and keep the new wallet’s address.
2-4. Click [Disconnect wallet] within the app security settings.
3-1. Click [Restore existing wallet] and input the recovery phrase saved before to connect your existing wallet.
3-2. Transfer assets from the existing wallet to the newly created wallet.
4-1. Follow the steps provided at step 1 to disconnect your existing wallet and re-connect your newly created wallet.
4-2. Check if your assets were safely transferred to the newly created wallet.
1. Install MetaMask on another browser and browser profile, or an unused mobile device.
2. Create a new MetaMask wallet on another browser and browser profile or a mobile device.
3. Keep the issued private keys in order in a safe place.
4. Transfer all the assets from the hacked wallet to the newly created wallet.
5. Delete the hacked account and wallet after safely transferring all assets from the hacked wallet.
If a withdrawal occurs without your knowledge, it is highly likely that private keys of your personal wallet have been exposed to a third party.The user is solely authorized and responsible for managing their personal keys , so please pay close attention to the security of your personal data.
