Stella Ladegbaye; the 19 year old developer that chose coding over cooking

When Stella Ladegbaye was in secondary school, she could pick catering or data processing as the extracurricular activity to focus on. While she may have loved cooking, she does not regret the decision to focus on data processing, which has now paved her way into tech.

Stella Ladegbaye is now a self-taught web developer, consuming learning materials from the web and growing under the mentorship of her elder sister.

She has picked up other skills, including hairdressing and the aforementioned catering, but she sees her future in tech.

Not every teen out there is as fortunate as Stella in terms of getting access to mentorship or learning materials. When asked if she would contemplate a career in technology, she replied that it was a long-term objective for her because there are lingering issues with technology that have been resolved and still need to be. In fact, there are problems yet to be discovered.

The teen web developer has executed projects, including building a website for a religious community. Members can access information about the religious institute’s activities, programs, and events.

Money is not Stella Ladegbaye’s major motivation. She believes that more money will come with developing your skills. Since money is a tool, people who add value to others are rewarded with more of it. We provide value through the special skills that we bring to the table. The more value you bring, the more money you’ll likely make.

The front-end developer intends to keep up with technological advancements. “There is no limit to what may be learned”, she said. Additionally, she is willing to take on opportunities and mentorship because she needs all the assistance she can be rendered in a tech career.

So far, she has had no problem balancing her tech career journey with the rest of her activities. Her advice to other tech teenagers or those looking forward to delving into tech is to keep learning. There is a liberty to explore tech before discovering your niche, which means exploration is allowed in building tech skills.
