A data breach impacting password storage provider LastPass in 2022 reportedly resulted in the theft of $4.4 million in cryptocurrencies from at least 25 users across 80 wallets.

ZachXBT, a pseudonymous on-chain researcher, and Taylor Monahan, a MetaMask developer, traced the transfer of funds from hacked wallets and discovered that the majority of victims were longtime LastPass users who saved their crypto wallet keys or seeds in the software.

LastPass had previously revealed the hack, which targeted an employee and resulted in decrypted user information and encrypted vault data being stolen. LastPass is facing a class-action lawsuit as a result of the breach, and experts encourage users who have wallet seeds or private keys stored in LastPass to move their assets as soon as possible.
