Elon Musk has vowed to "defeat the spam bots or die trying" if his audacious bid to take over Twitter is successful.

The Tesla CEO also said authenticating "all real humans" is also at the top of his priorities list.

His tweets came after the billionaire confirmed that he has now secured $46.5 billion in financing to buy the social network.

In a filing with the SEC, the world's richest man confirmed $13 billion has come from Morgan Stanley — and he also plans to borrow against his Tesla stock.

Twitter is yet to respond to Musk's offer, and earlier this week, adopted a "poison pill" strategy that's designed to make his takeover attempt harder.

He currently owns a 9.2% stake in the social network — however, if this increases to 15%, other Twitter shareholders would be given the chance to buy stock at discounted prices, diluting his position.

Tesla investors will be nervously watching to see whether Musk needs to offload any of his stock in order to push the Twitter deal over the finish line. Most of his wealth is tied up in the electric vehicle manufacturer.

What Happens Next?

Despite confirmation of Musk putting his money where his mouth is, TWTR was relatively flat in trading on Thursday — ending the session up 0.77%.

This may be a sign that Wall Street investors are uncertain whether or not the billionaire will succeed.

In a statement, Twitter acknowledged receipt of Musk's "best and final" offer of $54.20 a share, a premium of about 15% to current prices. A spokesman added:

"As previously announced and communicated to Mr Musk directly, the board is committed to conducting a careful, comprehensive and deliberate review to determine the course of action that it believes is in the best interest of the company and all Twitter stockholders."

Crypto enthusiasts are optimistic that Musk can bring some tangible improvements to the social network — and given his enthusiasm for Dogecoin, there's speculation he may allow the memecoin to be used as a payment method.

Spam bots have also been known to plague high-profile crypto accounts, directing people to dodgy links and scam giveaways that often bear Musk's name.
