Cloudwhite, well regarded in the Axie Infinity community as a pioneer supporter and influencer, suggested that the game’s publisher should consider integrating Mortal Kombat into the Ronin Network.
As seen in the post above, Cloudwhite tagged Midway Games, the publisher of the phenomenal video game franchise, to consider a Web3 model by partnering with Sky Mavis — the development studio behind Axie Infinity.
Cloudwhite is a validator of the Ronin network and has been a respected voice in the community for years. His efforts have been instrumental to the continuous expansion of Sky Mavis, with the latter making its foray into non-fungible token (NFT) collectibles with the recent migration of CyberKongz to the Ronin network.
In addition, Sky Mavis is aggressively partnering with gaming development studios to host and fund new games. However, Sky Mavis has yet to secure a partnership with a prominent Web2 gaming firm. Talks may be ongoing, as rumors are floating that the company’s Business Development Director Kathleen Osgood is pitching a Web3 deal with Warner Bros. Games.
Mortal Kombat is still one of the most popular fighting video game franchises today, with its 11th iteration boasting a monthly average of over 800,000 players.
In other news, Ronin (RON), the native cryptocurrency of Sky Mavis’ own blockchain network, is recently seeing a price recovery after a sluggish week. In the last 7 days, RON has recovered its price from $0.69 to almost $0.75. The primary contributing factor for this may be the successful minting of CyberKongz NFTs on the Ronin network, proving that its blockchain can indeed support other NFT collections.
