Majority of Americans See AI as a Threat to Workers
A new Pew Research report shows that 62% of Americans believe implementing AI in the workplace will have a major impact on American workers over the next 20 years. Only 13% believe AI will help more than hurt American workers. Concerns about increased surveillance, data mismanagement, and misinterpretations were cited as reasons for worry about an AI-enabled workplace. Additionally, 71% of respondents oppose the idea of AI being used to make final hiring decisions. However, just under half of the participants said AI would treat all applicants in the same way “better” than what hiring managers do.
