Along with EOS Network Foundation, metaverse app, Upland is launching its second hackathon, for Web2 and Web3 developers.
Teams may register for the Hackathon until May 12, with submissions due by May 26. Finalists will be chosen on May 28, with the final presentation and awards ceremony on June 9 during Upland’s annual Genesis Week Conference at the Sahara Casino and Resort in Las Vegas.
This year’s Upland Hackathon aims to inspire developers to build metaverse-changing experiences that are both one-of-a-kind and community-driven. Developers might take three distinct paths: 1. Metaverse Innovation Track; 2. FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 (FWWC23) Track; and 3. Design Track. The top ideas will get cash awards and the opportunity to participate in Upland’s post-hackathon incubator.
Upland a rapidly expanding metaverse
Upland’s co-founder and co-CEO, Idan Zuckerman, says the company is “thrilled” to organize its second hackathon for Web2 and Web3 developers to use Upland’s tools to build new experiences in the Upland metaverse after the success of the first round in 2022.
“As part of our mission to build the first Metaverse Super App, the main topics of this hackathon will have developer teams leverage web3 concepts by integrating games and experiences with the Upland platform to drive engagement and adoption in new innovative ways,” he said.
Four judges from Upland, FIFA, and the EOS Network Foundation will judge the 2023 Metaverse Super App Hackathon. Each project entry will be judged on its pitch, prototype, use of Upland’s 3rd-party development tools, team makeup and diversity, commercial viability, and Hackathon objective fulfillment.
Yves La Rose, Founder and CEO of the EOS Network Foundation, stated:
“EOS has made GameFi a cornerstone of its ecosystem development, and Upland is one of its biggest success stories so far. Upland chose to build on EOS because it’s one of the most robust and scalable networks of all, with an extremely diverse and talented pool of developers.”
Metaverse football matches
Upland’s position as FIFA’s official metaverse partner allows developers to construct games and experiences using Upland’s third-party SDK and FIFA NFTs in Upland. The winning game or gamified experience using FIFA Legits and Upland assets will be shown at the FIFA World Cup Village in Upland.
Upland’s Design Track challenges innovators to build the World of Football eSports competition trophy. World of Football participants play live football matches in the Upland metaverse.
Lastly, the Innovation Track seeks Web3 games and experiences that bring people together to play, interact, and exchange value. Developers may use Upland’s development tools to build practically any game or experience they think might be a metaverse success.
