 <p>In yet another development facing the billionaire’s social media platform, the European Union (EU) commission has opened an investigation into <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" title="Elon Musk" href="https://thebittimes.com/tag/elon-musk.html">Elon Musk</a>’s X (formerly Twitter). Moreover, the EU has reportedly threatened Musk with sanctions after the Tesla CEO failed to comply with hits censorship requests.</p>
 <p>The investigation arrived after a recent controversy arose regarding the platform. Subsequently, a host of advertising threatened to exit it entirely. Now, the New York Times reported the formal investigation after Musk failed to “counter illicit content and disinformation” on X.</p>

Indeed, it has faced massive changes since Musk took over and has continued to evolve in more than a year since that purchase was made official.</p>

 <p>However, on the heels of a controversy that led to a host of advertisers seeking to leave the platform, the EU Commission has opened an investigation into <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" title="Elon Musk" href="https://thebittimes.com/tag/elon-musk.html">Elon Musk</a>’s X. Moreover, the economic union is even threatening Muskw with sanctions after a censorship request was met with non-compliance</p>

 <p>The New York Times has called the inquiry the “more substantial regulatory move to dat against X,” since it lessened content moderation practices. Subsequently, they have noted such declining policies have equated to “a rise in incendiary content,” on the former Twitter.</p>
 <p>X has yet to respond to the investigation from the 27-country bloc. Conversely, development is a key part of Europe’s attempt to police internet content they deem hateful or the like. However, the United States still operates with an internet that is mostly unregulated. The EU’s Digital Services Act saw them seek more compliance regarding the moderation of online content. The Investigation into X has no deadline that has been specified, according to most recent reports.</p>
