Installed crypto ATMs have increased by 17.8 percent to 38,279 in the last year, bringing them one step closer to the record of 39,541 established in December 2022. Coin ATM Radar reports that there was a net loss of 2,861 machines in 2023, but a positive trend has been seen so far in 2024, with 2,564 new cryptocurrency ATMs deployed. 
From July 2023 through May 2024, the total rose on a monthly basis. The net rise of 377 installations in June more than made up for the 115 decline in installations seen between May and June. The top three bitcoin ATM operators are <a href="https://thenewscrypto.com/bitcoin-news-crypto-atm-firm-bitcoin-depot-finally-debuts-on-nasdaq/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bitcoin Depot</a> (7,543, 5,057 machines), <a href="https://coinflip.tech/bitcoin-atm" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Coinflip</a> (2,756 machines), and Athena Bitcoin (2,756). 
<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-number-likely-to-surge-further">Number Likely to Surge Further</h3> 
U.S. cryptocurrency ATMs outnumber Canadian ones by a wide margin (82% vs. 7.7%). The number of machines installed in Australia has increased dramatically, growing by a factor of roughly 17 to 1,107 in only two years. 
With the present pace of installation, <a href="https://thenewscrypto.com/australias-asx-to-list-first-bitcoin-etf-by-vaneck/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Australia</a> has a good chance of outnumbering Europe’s 1,584 ATMs. Spain (313), Poland (279), <a href="https://www.britannica.com/place/El-Salvador" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">El Salvador</a> (215), Germany (177), and Hong Kong (169) are among the other nations having substantial cryptocurrency ATM installations. 
Besides New Zealand, other nations with more than 100 ATMs include Romania, Georgia, Switzerland, and Austria. The number of nations that accept cryptocurrencies is 72 out of the 193 that the UN has recognized. 
The net number of installations fell sharply from December 2022 to July 2023, hitting a low of 32,764—the lowest level seen in 18 months. Amid the growing crypto adoption rate worldwide, the number is likely to grow substantially by the end of this year.
