Someone, according to Binance, has been using AI to spread false information about the exchange.Binance has been bombarded with numerous requests regarding its co-founder, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), and his supposed affiliation with the Chinese Communist Party, as per information from the exchange <a href="https://fortune.com/crypto/2023/05/01/binance-claims-to-be-target-of-chatgpt-based-smear-campaign-in-washington-d-c/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">disclosed</a> to Fortune on May 1.Apparently, the exchange has received a surge of inquiries from congressional offices, citing an alleged conversation in which the AI-powered platform ChatGPT claimed that Binance’s founder created a social media platform for the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).Patrick Hillmann, the chief strategy officer of Binance, has just made a public <a href="https://twitter.com/PRHillmann/status/1653107111616987136" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">statement</a> criticizing ChatGPT and shared the conversation’s specifics. He accused ChatGPT of obtaining the information from a fabricated LinkedIn profile belonging to CZ as well as a Forbes article that does not exist.<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/srd-optimized-uploads/f6c127c7ed0c410ea6a69bb508d59ed1.PNG" /><h2 id="header-0">The ChatGPT conversation</h2>Hilmann stated Binance has been investing significant time and resources into exploring how AI can enhance user experiences on their platform and how <a href="https://finbold.com/topic/blockchain/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">blockchain</a> technology can address gaps in verifying certain information.During a dialogue with the chatbot platform offered by OpenAI, Hillman inquired as to whether or not CZ was, in fact, a member of the Youth League Committee of the CNPC.<blockquote>“As you’ll see, ChatGPT pulls this from a fake LinkedIn profile and a non-existent &#64;Forbes article. We can’t find any evidence of this story nor the LinkedIn page ever existing,” Hillmann said.</blockquote>According to ChatGPT, which cited material that was available to the public, he was, in fact, a member of the CNPC throughout the 1990s. ChatGPT responded to a question about the availability of this information by stating that it was accessible to the public and referencing a phony LinkedIn profile belonging to Changpeng Zhao. In addition, it said that the material in question may be found in several interviews and news pieces.Later, ChatGPT refers to a CZ interview with Forbes that does not exist, in which he discusses his previous employment with CNPC.
