Despite the increasing <a href="https://blockchainreporter.net/tag/regulation/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">regulation</a> in the industry, crimes and corruption are still being committed. Earlier today, <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-02-16/norway-police-makes-record-crypto-seizure-linked-to-north-korea" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bloomberg reported</a> Norway’s Norwegian police seized a total amount of 60 million kroner ($5.9 million) in cryptocurrency connected to North Korea Notorious hacking group, Lazarus.According to the report, the obtained funds was from the stolen funds exploited from the blockchain network of the popular play-to-earn video game Axie Infinity. The report also noted that the obtained funds are the largest seized funds from the Nordic region.<h2 id="header-0">Flashback To Axie Infinity Theft</h2>Last March, Axie Infinity’s underlying <a href="https://blockchainreporter.net/blockchain/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">blockchain</a> Ronin in the crypto game was <a href="https://blockchainreporter.net/over-600m-hacked-from-nft-game-axie-infinity/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">exploited of roughly $625 million worth of cryptocurrency</a> which made it the second-largest attack in the developing <a href="https://blockchainreporter.net/market/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">cryptocurrency market</a>.<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/e47e17dbfeaf4050839c634a60780e05.jpeg" />Operator of Ronin and <a href="https://axieinfinity.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Axie Infinity</a>, Sky Mavis, initially discovered the hack and blocked all transactions on the Ronin bridge that enables users to deposit and withdraw funds from the company’s blockchain.Mavis claimed a partnership with law authorities to recover 173,600 ETH worth $600 million and 25.5 million <a href="https://blockchainreporter.net/tag/usdc/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">USDC</a> from the attacker. The main target behind the hack was Sky Mavis’ Ronin network, which acts as a middleman between Axie Infinity and other cryptocurrency blockchains such as <a href="https://blockchainreporter.net/ethereum/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Ethereum</a>.At the time, the team ceased activity on networks which include the enabling of players to exchange assets in the Axie Infinity realm and cash between the Ethereum and Ronin blockchains.
