Last weekend, <a href="https://en.coin-turk.com/polygon-matic-price-analysis-is-the-altcoins-2023-rally-in-danger/" data-wpel-link="internal">Polygon</a>‘s (<a href="https://en.coin-turk.com/polygon-matic-gains-interest-as-active-addresses-surge/" data-wpel-link="internal">MATIC</a>) zkEVM Mainnet Beta was halted for about 10 hours due to a sequencer issue stemming from a reorganization of the Layer 1 network. The problem was specific to Polygon zkEVM and did not affect Polygon PoS or CDK. Following an emergency fix implemented by the Emergency Council for Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta, the network resumed operations, and a detailed analysis of the issue is planned to be shared in the coming week. 
<h2 style="text-align: justify" id="strong-issue-strikes-zkevm-mainnet-beta-strong">Issue Strikes zkEVM Mainnet Beta</h2> 
Polygon’s zkEVM Mainnet Beta successfully continued operations after an emergency fix following issues caused by the reorganization of the Layer 1 network. The Emergency Council enacted for the zkEVM Mainnet Beta of the altcoin project facilitated necessary adjustments by the Polygon zkEVM Core Team to resolve system issues affecting the operation of the Layer 1 network during the emergency.

With the completion of the emergency fix, the emergency state was deactivated, allowing normal operations on the network to continue. Moreover, it was announced that all future updates in the system will be subject to a 10-day time lock before being applied to the network to ensure careful evaluation and review. 
According to a statement from the Polygon team, detailed analysis results related to the issue are expected to be published within the next week. This effort aims to provide transparency and detail regarding recent events surrounding the altcoin project’s zkEVM Mainnet Beta and to inform stakeholders about the operational status of the platform and future plans.

The recent incident with Polygon zkEVM has sparked discussions in the cryptocurrency world about the scalability of Layer 2 solutions. Polygon developer Jarrod Watts emphasized the importance of Layer 2 scalability, highlighting the significance of supporting future improvements, bug fixes, and security patch implementations. 
While acknowledging the risks associated with Layer 2 scalability, Watts underlined the necessity of continuous development and innovation within the ecosystem. He also addressed concerns about the potential for malicious upgrades and drew attention to discussions on the centralization of Layer 2 networks compared to certain Layer 1 networks.
