SHIBA INU is now held by one million people around the world, according to the project's official Twitter account.

Those behind the memecoin described it as a "proud and amazing milestone," adding:

"Today we all cheer, and celebrate this great moment in SHIB's history."

It follows SHIBA INU's extraordinary price surge — with dramatic gains in October propelling the coin into the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap.

Enthusiasm for memecoins led a number of major exchanges, including Coinbase, to list SHIB.

This support from trading platforms will undoubtedly have been instrumental in this milestone being reached.

Unfortunately though, calls for Robinhood to add SHIB have fallen on deaf ears — despite hundreds of thousands of people signing a petition.

The Dog Days Are Over?

A sizable number of SHIBA INU's one million holders will have piled in last month, when the coin hit highs of $0.00008845.
Despite frenzied excitement that SHIB could one day hit $0.01, the altcoin has plunged in value over the past 30 days or so.
At the time of writing, it's trading at a 53% discount to its record price.

Those who are holding onto their tokens may be clinging to hope that SHIB roars back to life during an altseason — reprising the performance smaller coins had in early 2018.
