What Is the Myriaverse?

Зміст

The Myriaverse is Myria’s own Metaverse where people can connect through play in an expansive Web3 gaming environment without limits.

The Myria blockchain is home to hundreds of games in different phases of development, all connected via Myria’s Layer 2 scaling solution, NFT marketplace, non-custodial wallet and software development kits (SDKs).

The Myriaverse draws on and combines these blockchain elements to achieve a high level of functionality and seamless digital interaction for players. In short, visitors will benefit from a growing choice of fully immersive games to explore and enjoy. Not least of these will be Myria’s own studio games built specifically for the Myriaverse.

The next billion

Myria’s blockchain gaming ecosystem will be there to welcome the next billion users into the world of Web3. With its cutting-edge tech built on Ethereum, it offers users instantaneous transactions with no gas fees, free NFT minting plus a complete suite of tools for developers that want to build on the world’s most secure platform.

Testament to Myria’s robust market position, in just a year more than 220 projects have chosen to partner with Myria to develop their Web3 games and deploy their NFT collections for their communities.

More about the Myriaverse, but first, a word about the Metaverse

Etymologically, the word “metaverse” is a portmanteau of “meta” meaning “beyond” and “verse”, short for “universe”. So the literal translation is a “universe beyond our own”.

The term was originally coined by Neal Stephenson in his 1992 sci-fi novel, Snow Crash. In the novel, humans were able to interact with one another through digital avatars in a virtual world that resembled the real world.

Many other novels and movies have riffed on this original idea including Avatar, The Matrix Trilogy, Ready Player One, and more. Watching any of these movies is good grounding for anyone new to the metaverse concept. The Myriaverse is simply a metaverse created by the team at Myria.

Some of the elements that characterize a metaverse include:

  • A focus on genuine social interactions in a digital realm
  • 3D digital avatars in place of humans, but connected to humans
  • Virtual land that can be bought and used for various purposes
  • Immersive experiences such as gaming, entertainment or meetings
  • Decentralized governance and some form of tokenization

Underpinning the existence of a fully functioning Web3 metaverse, such as Myriaverse, is blockchain technology. Here, all vital data can be immutably stored, including everything from avatars and skins to land, billboards, casino chips, event entry tickets — anything you can think of that exists in a digital form.

The key difference between Web2 and Web3 metaverses is provable ownership via smart contracts, and fully functioning marketplaces where people can buy and sell any of their digital items and store them in a Web3 wallet such as Metamask.

Although the technology is still in its relative infancy, the combination of hardware such as Meta’s Oculus, increasingly realistic digital spaces, and rapidly improving blockchain functionality through L2 tech powered by ZK-Rollups, will all play major roles in driving metaverse adoption in the coming years.

When Myriaverse?

In 2022 Myria turned a year old and we’ve already released our roadmap for 2023!

The Myriaverse is still in the early stages of development with the product, design, artwork and games teams working at pace to deliver a minimum viable product within the next 18 months.

Myria’s mission

Myria firmly believes that player-centricity is the most important element when designing Web3 games. It’s very much a fun-first philosophy with remuneration through NFTs and sensible token distribution economics featuring as a happy by-product of a soundly functioning system.

Myria’s internal game development division, Myria Studios, excels at creating Play-and-Earn games. Thanks to ZK technology, users can expect a frictionless experience with high transaction speeds, fast scaling, zero gas fees on the Myria blockchain, and free NFT minting as standard.
