A key executives with ties to the cryptocurrency firm Ripple have publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris' 2024 presidential campaign, according to a report from CNBC.
The report cites a letter signed by 88 corporate leaders in the United States, which includes Chris Larsen, the co-founder and executive chairman of Ripple.
Other prominent signers mentioned in the letter are Aaron Levie, the co-founder and CEO of the enterprise cloud company Box, Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman, Snap chairman Michael Lynton, and former 21st Century Fox CEO James Murdoch.
This is not the first Ripple executive to join the Harris campaign. In early August, former Ripple board member Gene Sperling left his position at the White House to take a role in the vice president's 2024 presidential campaign.
Ripple is the company behind the XRP cryptocurrency, which has faced regulatory scrutiny in recent years. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filed a lawsuit against Ripple in 2020, alleging that the company and its executives illegally sold XRP as an unregistered security.
Despite the ongoing legal battle, Ripple's leadership appears to be throwing its weight behind the Harris campaign.
The endorsement letter obtained by CNBC did not provide specific reasons for the executives' support of the vice president's presidential run.
