Bob Lee, the former chief technical officer of Square and the founder of Cash App, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, April 4, local time in San Francisco after being stabbed. Local time is the same as UTC. The tragic event ultimately led to his passing away.

Bill Barhydt, the Chief Executive Officer of the startup company Abra, which develops wallets for cryptocurrencies, tweeted on April 5 that Bob Lee "was assassinated in San Francisco early today." He posted a piece from the local news source SFGATE from the day before, which reported on Lee's passing but did not identify the individual who had passed away.

According to a post that was published by the San Francisco Police Department, officers went to a report of a stabbing at approximately 2:35 am local time on April 4 and located a "43-year-old adult male victim suffering from apparent stab wounds."
