Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor (2018)

This animated film tells the story of a young boy named Allahyar who befriends a Markhor, a wild goat species found in Pakistan. Together, they go on an adventure to save the animal kingdom from a hunter.

Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor (2018)

Written and directed by Uzair Zaheer Khan, the visually-enchanting animated feature is packed with inspiring lessons, lives up to its promise, and paints the world in beautiful colours, such that one of the film’s actors explained in an interview that the film has the potential to restore faith into humanity.

Bilal: A New Breed of Hero (2015)

This animated film tells the story of Bilal, a young boy who becomes a warrior and fights for freedom and equality. It is based on the true story of Bilal Ibn Rabah, a companion of Prophet Muhammad.

“Bilal: A New Breed of Hero” is an animated story about a culture and a piece of history we don’t often see, told from a region and a perspective that’s underrepresented in mainstream film. It’s an inspiring tale based on true events with a worthwhile message about finding your voice and asserting your identity.

Roger Ebert

Premised on faith, Bilal tackles the mature themes of slavery, prejudice, persecution, forgiveness, and idol worship.

The Message (1976)

This historical film tells the story of Islam’s origins and the life of Prophet Muhammad. It stars Anthony Quinn as the uncle of the Prophet and is directed by Moustapha Akkad.

This movie is considered to be an accurate historical representation of the actual events that took place and serves as an introduction to early Islamic history.

“The Message” follows Muhammad’s era as a prophet, starting with the early beginnings of Islam in Mecca. “The Message” focuses on the persecution of Muslims and the battles and hardships they endured to worship freely and peacefully.

The Message (1976)

The movie summarises the history of Islam’s origin, Muhammed’s life, and Islam’s influence on other world religions and raises questions about women’s rights in Islam.

The Kite Runner (2007)

This drama film tells the story of a young boy named Amir who grows up in Afghanistan and is haunted by his past. It is based on the novel of the same name by Khaled Hosseini.

Director Marc Forster and screenwriter David Benioff took their time to provide the best screen representation possible of Khaled Hosseini’s best-selling novel.

“The Kite Runner” touches the heart and the mind – something increasingly rare in any movie not made with the express intention of winning Oscars.

My Name is Khan (2010)

This drama film tells the story of a Muslim man with Asperger’s syndrome who goes on a journey to meet the President of the United States and clear his name after being wrongfully accused of terrorism. It stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.

Directed by Karan Johar (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham), “My Name is Khan” captures the sad reality of Muslim immigrants in post-9/11 America.

The story hits its climax during the 9/11 events and how the reaction of Americans to the attack changes the course of many people’s lives, particularly that of Muslims and Indians.

Omar (2013)

This is a thriller film that tells the story of three childhood friends who became involved in the Palestinian resistance movement. It is directed by Hany Abu-Assad.

Omar (2013)

“Omar” is a thriller and a romance with unabashedly melodramatic elements (there’s even a love triangle), all of which are brought into stark relief by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
