MOBIX teams up with HED AKADEMI to advocate for improved road safety for cyclists in Turkiye.

MOBIX has joined forces with HED AKADEMI, an accredited Turkish safe driving training organization and the exclusive representative of the German Road Safety Commission (DVR) in Turkiye since 2002.

The collaboration aims to expedite the advancement and adoption of road and traffic safety for micromobility and other eco-friendly modes of transportation in Turkiye. The partnership's primary objective is to endorse, facilitate, and capitalize on the use of micromobility as a secure and sustainable alternative to less eco-conscious forms of transportation, such as automobiles, in Turkiye.

The lack of well-built infrastructure in busy cities poses a threat to cycling safety. The World Health Organization reports that pedestrians, motorcyclists, and cyclists account for 54% of traffic-related fatalities. Despite this, only a handful of cities have succeeded in developing adequate cycling infrastructure. In Turkiye, the chances of a cyclist being involved in an accident are 6-8 times higher per kilometer than that of a car driver. In Tepebaşı, a district in Istanbul, cycling constitutes a mere 2% of residents' transportation modes today, while history indicates it was once a widespread practice. Urbanization and the emphasis on infrastructure for motor vehicles brought an end to this trend.
