Luckycoin ($LKY) is a cryptocurrency that launched in May 2013, by an anonymous developer called LuckyC.

In August 2024 a backup of the Luckycoin blockchain from 2013 was discovered and the chain was revived from block 81,743, thus enshrining as much of the history of Luckycoin as possible in the current actively mined chain.

Luckycoin was one of the earliest cryptocurrencies ever launched and after its revival in 2024 is now one of the oldest actively mined cryptocurrencies in existence.

Luckycoin could be considered the oldest active 'memecoin' in existence at the time of writing. Although the concept of memecoin hadn't taken hold back in May of 2013 it's clear that Luckycoin offers no utility and instead was described by LuckyC as 'Fast, Fun & Fair' with a playful introduction on the Bitcoin Talk forums.

The EIGEN token is a universal intersubjective work token designed for EigenLayer, enabling security for various digital tasks that are not just objectively verifiable but also intersubjectively attributable. Unlike traditional work tokens that are tied to one specific digital task or objective faults (verifiable on-chain), EIGEN addresses a broader category of faults where multiple external observers agree on whether the task was performed correctly. LayerZero is an omnichain interoperability protocol designed for lightweight message passing across chains. LayerZero provides authentic and guaranteed message delivery with configurable trustlessness. It is a “blockchain of blockchains” that allows other blockchain networks to communicate directly and in a trustless manner.

LayerZero’s key feature is Ultra Light Nodes (ULNs). These smart contracts run on each blockchain and act as endpoints for cross-chain communication. ULNs verify the validity of transactions and messages from other chains using block headers and transaction proofs, ensuring security and efficiency.

LayerZero supports any blockchain that can run smart contracts, such as Ethereum, BNB Chain, Avalanche, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Fantom and other chains. LayerZero also supports non-EVM chains like Aptos. These so-called omnichain applications should become a key layer of a multi-chain future, where different blockchains interact simultaneously.

Kaspa is a proof-of-work (PoW) cryptocurrency which implements the GHOSTDAG protocol. Unlike traditional blockchains, GHOSTDAG does not orphan blocks created in parallel, rather allows them to coexist and orders them in consensus. The Kaspa blockchain is actually a blockDAG. This generalization of Nakamoto consensus allows for secure operation while maintaining very high block rates (currently one block per second, aiming for 10/sec, dreaming of 100/sec) and minuscule confirmation times dominated by internet latency.

The Kaspa implementation includes a lot of cool features such as Reachability to query the DAG's topology, Block data pruning (with near-future plans for block header pruning), SPV proofs, and later subnetwork support which will make future implementation of layer 2 solutions much easier.
