ANS

Arweave Name Service (ANS) is a username protocol for Arweave wallet addresses. ANS names are human-readable usernames representing your Arweave address, like sam.ar. Since launch, ANS names have been integrated into ArConnect, ViewBlock, everPay and other key Arweave dApps and infrastructure.

March 12 2022 marked the genesis of ANS. We airdropped 513 domains to early Verto adopters and distributed a handful over the next 11 months in community giveaways. On February 17 2023, we launched the public mint of ANS names on ans.gg. At the time of writing, almost 800 Arweavers hold over 1,400 domains in total.

On May 15 2023, we went live with the ANS DAO, the $ANS token, and the community airdrop.

$ANS token holders are able to create and vote on proposals in the DAO, and will be entitled to revenue from the protocol.
